How Simple Fashion Is Making A Comeback

Extreme fashion statements have been a common occurrence in almost every era, most recently seen with the retro styles that have been resurrected from the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. But lately we have seen simpler patterns, solid colors, and basic cuts finding their way back into most designer lines, and it begs the question: Is simple fashion making a comeback?

The short answer is ‘Yes’. Rather than catering to the strange and unique, tastes that would can be described as classic are a much more desirable choice in today’s age. Even the latest trends that you see with today’s youth are incorporating straight leg jeans, simple prints on solid colors, and harsh-edged hair styles as a means of expressing a social type. Just look at self-proclaimed scene-kids, and you will see what I mean.

As for adults, the generations that started out of the grunge and goth eras of the 90’s are moving to a more professional look, with dark, rich colors, and clothing made for both comfort and functionality. Business casual is commonly seen during the day, and even on weekends, while evening wear is straight out of an Audrey Hepburn film.

It is a new trend that has prompted many designers to pull back on their stranger lines, which have no real place off of the run way. While it may not last, it cannot be denied that the latest ‘it’ thing is to tone it down, and to live comfortably, without attracting too much attention.
